From hive to flame: the journey of beeswax

Before illuminating our interiors with a soft, golden glow, beeswax undergoes a remarkable journey. From hive to candle, each step tells a story of patience, craftsmanship and respect for nature.

1. The magic of bees
Beeswax is produced naturally by young worker bees. Through their wax glands, they secrete thin wax scales which they knead to build the hexagonal cells of the hive. These perfect structures house honey, pollen and the next generation of bees.
2. The beekeeper's harvest
After the honey production season, the beekeeper removes the filled frames. The cappings — thin layers of wax that seal the honey — are carefully cut away. It is primarily these cappings, virgin and pure, that are used in the making of quality candles.
3. The purification of the wax
Once harvested, the raw wax still contains honey and natural impurities. It is therefore gently melted in a bain-marie and filtered several times. This patient work yields a luminous yellow wax with a subtle honey scent, ready to be worked.
4. The artisan's expertise
Then comes the craftsperson's touch, transforming this noble material. Wick, pouring temperature, resting time: every detail matters. The gesture must be precise to ensure an even burn and a steady flame — the signature of beeswax candles.
5. The flame, the culmination of a natural cycle
When the wick ignites, the entire journey is illuminated: the energy of the bees, the patience of the beekeeper and the skill of the artisan are revealed in a warm and soothing light.
By choosing a pure beeswax candle, you support the beekeeping industry, contribute to the preservation of bees, and bring to your home a light filled with history and meaning.
